TranslatedChat ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when third parties process it, and what choices you have in connection with the TranslatedChat mobile application (the "App") and related website pages.

## 1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the App, we may collect or process:
- **Phone number** for account registration and identity verification
- **Profile information** such as username and about text that you choose to provide
- **Message and media content in transit** when you send text, voice, photos, videos, or files through the App
- **Language preferences** used for app language and translation-related features
- **Device and app information** such as device type, operating system version, and app version for security, troubleshooting, and support
- **Usage and diagnostics data** such as basic analytics, crash reports, and feature usage as implemented in the App
We do **not** use TranslatedChat to keep your full message archive on our servers as permanent storage.

## 2. How we use information
We use information to:
- Operate the App and relay messages between users
- Automatically delete relay message data from our servers after a limited period (**up to seven days**)
- Remove expired relay messages as part of a **scheduled server cleanup process** that runs regularly (approximately every minute, subject to normal operation)
- Translate messages between languages when needed using **Google Gemini**
- Deliver voice and video functionality
- Verify your phone number and help secure your account
- Send notifications about messages, calls, and account events
- Improve app performance, reliability, and security
Our servers relay and support delivery; they are **not** your long-term cloud chat archive.

## 3. Translation and Google Gemini
Translation runs only when needed, for example when participants use different languages. When translation runs, **message text may be sent from your device to Google for processing through the Gemini API** under Google's own terms and policies.
We do **not** control how Google processes data beyond their published terms. We do **not** use your messages to train our own AI models.
Translations are provided on a **best-effort** basis and may be imperfect or incomplete. Translation features may be limited or disabled in certain contexts within the App.

## 4. Firebase and other third-party services
We use third-party services to operate the App, including:
- **Firebase (Google)** for authentication, database, cloud storage, and push notifications
- **Google Gemini** for message translation when translation is needed
- **GIPHY** for GIF search where that feature is available
- **Vosk** for offline voice transcription where implemented
- **Google Play** for app distribution, billing, and subscription management
- **Advertising providers** for the free version of the App, where applicable
These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies.

## 5. Where chat history is stored
Your day-to-day chat history is stored **primarily on your devices** as implemented in the App.
If you choose to use **optional backup** (for example, Google Drive backup), that backup is stored under the provider you selected and is subject to **your account settings** and that provider's **terms and policies**.
We do **not** provide a long-term server-side message archive.

## 6. Security and encryption
We use encryption in transit and other reasonable safeguards to protect information. The App may use **strong encryption (for example, AES-256-GCM)** in **supported** flows, such as encrypting payloads for relay and protecting locally handled data.
This does **not** mean that only the two users can access plaintext in every scenario. For example, when you use cloud translation, plaintext needed for the translation request is processed by **Google Gemini** as described above.
No method of transmission, storage, or processing is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

## 7. Data retention
- **Server-side relay copies** are held temporarily for delivery and related features and are removed after a limited period (**up to seven days**), including via scheduled cleanup
- **Disappearing messages** and similar features are deleted on devices according to the settings you choose, where available
- **Account-related data** may be removed when you delete your account, subject to legal, security, fraud-prevention, or operational requirements

## 8. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your information.
Within the App, you may be able to:
- Control profile and privacy settings
- Block unwanted contacts
- Manage read receipts and visibility settings where offered
- Delete your account where the feature is available

## 9. Children's privacy
TranslatedChat is not intended for children under **13**, or the minimum age required in their country for consent to personal-data processing, whichever is higher. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law.

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. By using the App, you understand that cross-border data transfers may occur, subject to applicable safeguards and legal requirements.
